The veterinary assistant is responsible for providing support to veterinarians and veterinary technicians. Duties include: performing limited medical treatments on patients; assisting in taking x-rays; maintaining sanitary conditions for patients; walking dogs; proper, humane restraint of animals during medical treatments; stocking supplies; laundering hospital linens; and other tasks as assigned by veterinarians and veterinary technicians.
This is a 24-hour emergency clinic open 365 days per year. All employees are expected to work some combination of nights, weekends, and holidays. This is not negotiable. If you have schedule limitations, this is not a position for you.
There is no minimum education requirement; however, candidates for this position should possess some animal handling experience and a strong desire to excel in the veterinary field. Strong attention to detail and analytical abilities are required. This position is physically intensive, requiring employees to squat, bend, kneel, lift greater than 30lbs, frequently get down on and get up from the floor, and physically restrain patients such that medical therapy can be administered.
Applicants will be required to pass a background check and drug screen.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Starting pay for this position is $12.00+ per hour depending on experience. Shift differential between 12 a.m. and 6 a.m. is +25%.
