SoBran is seeking a Receiving Technician to serve at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland.
OVERVIEW: Responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the loading dock and elevators, facility supplies and order preparation, animal receipt, creation of cage cards and maintenance of receipt logs.
Description of Duties:
Assure supplies do not fall below critical levels, and that items are requested/ordered with sufficient lead-time to ensure availability and delivery
Assist facility management in generating orders for food, bedding and supplies
Maintain and update critical supply level information as needed
Maintain current vendor list
Receive and inspect supply shipments to verify quality and quantity ordered/received
Decontamination of all supplies as appropriate before admission to the animal facility
Upon receipt, verify the mill date of animal feed is within acceptable parameters
Maintain supply and feed and bedding ordering/receipt records and logs; submit packing slips within 24 hours of receipt
Upon receipt of animals, verify order and health status, generate appropriate cage cards, maintain and submit animal receipt logs as requested
Coordinate receipt and distribution of supplies and equipment to appropriate areas of the facility to include unpacking and storing supplies to designated areas
Maintain loading dock and receiving areas, report deficiencies to facility management
Provide reports/information to the facility manager as requested
Perform duties in adherence with established SOPs
Report any abnormal conditions of the animal facility or immediate vicinity to supervisory staff
Perform other duties as assigned
Schedule: All employees are expected to perform their duties as assigned, arrive to work at 7:00 am and depart at 3:30 pm M-F. You will be required to work on the weekends as scheduled. The weekend/ holiday hours are from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm (no more than 8 hours per day). In addition, you may be expected to work extra hours during an emergency situation or if any unexpected situation arise until work is completed.
Required experience: Experience preferred in scheduling, animal receipt and identification, proper sanitation techniques, and inventory/supply maintenance. The ability to handle a heavy lifting workload such as lifting 50lbs. for an extended period of time and pushing/pulling flatbeds and pallet jacks with loads exceeding 100lbs is required. Must complete the required training and receive clearance on the duties of Receiving Technician as outlined.
Required education: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent; be certified by the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) as an Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) or equivalent education / experience and become ALAT certified within 12 months of hire; experience in a laboratory animal facility preferred.
