ER Veterinary Technicians needed for an AAHA certified small animal hospital in NE Ohio, (Salem). We are looking for one full-time Vet Tech or two Part-Time ER Vet Techs and at least one Vet Assistant for a new, employee friendly weekend emergency service. This is NOT a kennel position, this is a nursing position and applicants should have a solid foundation in nursing. Experienced RVT preferred but experienced Vet Assistant considered. Individuals should have strong teamwork and communication skills; be able to work as a team in busy work environment; can follow written and verbal directions, able to multi-task and use a computer, be able to stand, walk, kneel, stoop, maneuver for long durations of time; and able to lift and carry 50lbs. Should have flexibility for schedules and must be able to work second or third shift from Friday night through Tuesday morning. You must be able to perform in-house labs, place IV catheters, administer IV fluids, administer oral, IV, IM and SQ medications, restrain patients for radiographs and ultrasound, administer anesthesia, place endotracheal tubes, prepare patients for surgery, monitor during surgery and post-op recovery, be able to draw blood, be able to read medical records and perform tasks based on doctor's notes, fill medications and be able to discuss them with clients.

We are a progressive, growing, multi-doctor hybrid practice that believes in using education, skills, and great technology to provide the human quality medicine to dogs and cats. We try to provide quality medicine for our patients while tailoring it to the client's needs and income. As a hybrid practice we provide medical care that combines general practice and daytime emergency care. We don’t just provide routine care, but more advance care as well. I describe it as providing services that fall between a general practice and a specialty practice. We are currently in the process of expanding our services to a 24-hour hospital. The hospital is a large modern and fully equipped 9,000 sq ft medical facility that has recently been renovated to create a calm and fear free environment (pictures are on our website adamsonveterinaryservices.com). We have a full in-house lab, ultrasound, dental machines, digital x-ray machine electrocautery unit, 2 large surgery suites, multiple full parameter monitors and anesthesia machines, isolation room, portable oxygen cage, Snyder ICU machine, 2 ICU isolettes, with facility to house up to 34 sick patients. We have a large waiting room split int...o two sections to divide dogs and cats. We are open 7 days a week with doctors rotating weekends. The average work week is 40 - 55 hours per week.
Community profile: Although Salem is a small town, it has a lot to recommend it. There are several large metropolitan areas (Youngstown, Akron, Canton, Cleveland and Pittsburg) within minutes of Salem. There are small manufacturing companies and smaller service companies provide jobs for the area residents. Lordstown GM plant and Delphi are within 20 minutes for additional jobs for area residents. The downtown is an active and viable environment with friendly and helpful business people. There are a lot of community activities for individuals as well as families. There is a country club with a golf course, a community center with gym facilities and pool, and several small local lakes for boating and fishing. Parks and hiking facilities are close by. The grade school and secondary schools are excellent for those individuals interested in them for children. Kent State community college has a branch just outside Salem for more advanced studies. Universities are close by. Cars and trucks are a big thing in our area and we have several community activities associated with them. Quaker Raceway is just outside town for the car enthusiast. Major sports arenas are within an hour. Major highways to all parts of the country within minutes of Salem. We may be a small community, but we have much to offer.
