About the area:
San Diego is one of the premier cities in the US, with one of the finest climates in the world. We have world class restaurants, a thriving night-life and craft beer scene, professional baseball and football teams, as well as the world famous San Diego Zoo and Safari Animal Park, Sea World, Legoland, and close proximity to Disneyland. Our beautiful park system has hiking, biking, many fine museums, nationally renowned theatres, and plenty of room for just laying around. The ocean offers many opportunities for boating, surfing, swimming, both local and long range fishing, or just walking on the beach.
We are 1 hour from 5,000 ft mountains which have many opportunities for camping, fishing, and hiking. We are also 2 hours from the desert, with camping, hiking, off-roading, and amazing seasonal wild flowers. In addition we are 2 hours from winter skiing. We are home to 3 major universities which have plenty of cultural and educational opportunities. We’re also privileged to have many social organizations from biking, running, and swimming clubs, a chapter of the Sierra Club, as well as many dog and dog agility clubs. Also because of our rural environments we have many hiking and horse riding clubs.
The cost of living is comparable to any large city and when compared with the benefits of the area and what is offered is well worth the extra few dollars. So while we can’t offer mosquitoes, nor local snow, ice, or cold weather, we still think that when all is told San Diego is one of the finest places in the US to live and work.
