Pet Emergency Treatment, Inc. is a busy 24-hour, 7-day a week small animal emergency hospital located in beautiful Anchorage, Alaska. We are interested in adding talented, energetic and positive Licensed Veterinary Technicians to our growing team!

We provide training and competency assessment for all of our new staff. Successful candidates must be able and willing to work any shift (days, evenings or weekends). A skills assessment will be given at the time of interview to determine Mathematical Reasoning — The ability to choose the right mathematical methods or formulas to solve a problem. Number Facility — The ability to add, subtract, multiply, or divide quickly and correctly, and Perceptual Speed — The ability to quickly and accurately compare similarities and differences among sets of letters, numbers, objects, pictures, or patterns. The things to be compared may be presented at the same time or one after the other. This ability also includes comparing a presented object with a remembered object.

The primary function of the veterinary technician is assisting the veterinarian in providing medical care and essential job functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform treatments and administer medication as directed by the veterinarian
  • Perform laboratory tests and take radiographs
  • Anesthetize animals and monitor anesthesia under the direction and supervision of the veterinarians
  • Assist receptionists with triage and incoming patients
  • Do "pre-exams" on incoming patients and gather brief medical histories
  • Communicate with clients/owners about status of patients as directed by the veterinarian
  • Participate in client education on the health of their pets
  • Fill prescriptions
  • Participate in all staff and technician/assistant mandatory meetings
  • Participate in the review process for support staff as requested
  • Duties may include but are not limited to checking patients in, collecting deposits and payments, answering client questions in person and on the telephone, helping to keep the hospital clean, doing laundry, cleaning cages, etc.
  • Exceptional patient and customer service a must.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal relationship skills in dealing with peers, superiors, customers and Veterinarians.
  • Must exhibit professionalism in behavior and performance at all times
