Provides laboratory and instructional support for nationally accredited Veterinary Technology associate degree program, including: assisting the faculty and other instructional staff in supervising students in laboratory experiences, ensuring laboratory safety, providing care for program animals, maintaining laboratories, supplies and equipment, and assisting with other program-related functions as needed.
Required qualifications include current licensure/eligibility for licensure in Virginia as a licensed veterinary technician (LVT), an associate or higher degree in veterinary technology, at least two years LVT experience in progressive veterinary practice, ability to work collaboratively with others, and effective verbal and written communication skills for dealing with team members, students and shelters. Must be comfortable with diverse species including companion animals, rodents, large animals and birds.
Preferred qualifications include previous experience in academic support, recent experience in small animal anesthesia and surgical nursing, as well as a strong interest in exotic animals.
