City Cat Doctor is currently seeking a passionate and motivated full-time Medical Director to join our team of dedicated staff. Our busy and well-established hospital currently has two practicing doctors and has been servicing the cats of Chicago for over 20 years. We are very devoted to our patients and client base and enjoy being able to bring high-quality feline medicine to the area we serve.
Our ideal candidate will be a DVM in good standing with a license to practice in Illinois, and have a passion for the business side of veterinary medicine and have a desire to work in a collaborative environment with the Practice Manager.
City Cat is moving to a brand new facility in June 2018, equipped with paper-light practices, digital dental radiography, Sound digital radiography, state-of-the-art ultrasound, along with an in-house lab.
We are recognized by AAFP as a Gold Standard Cat Friendly Hospital and are working towards becoming Fear-Free and AAHA accredited.

Manage the quality of veterinary medicine within the practice. This individual implements medical strategy to achieve operational and financial goals within the practice.
Sets medical protocols and oversees compliance with associate veterinarians
Insures associate veterinarians obtain required CE’s based on state requirements and training needs
Insures daily rounds are performed
Participates in medical director think tanks to share best practices
Leads monthly CE with staff
Responsible for doctor’s schedules and maintains comprehensive knowledge of Cornerstone
Hires and retains quality veterinary team members with positive attitudes and strong communication skills
Develops and implements training programs for all veterinary staff
Creates clear communication through monthly doctor meetings, soliciting staff feedback and working with their team members to understand and assist in effective service delivery
Utilizes positive reinforcement, coaching and counseling, application of the disciplinary process and employee performance reviews to reinforce the right behaviors and immediately address any unacceptable behaviors of team members
Uses client feedback resources to improve doctor performance
Manages the financial performance of the practice by insuring all veterinarians adhere to the fee schedule, prepare treatment plans and communicate clearly with clients about appropriate treatment options
Assists in the development of the annual operating budget
Identifies areas to improve revenue generation and implements
Participates in monthly P&L discussions and review
Insures that associate veterinarians develop excellent clinical communication skills and relationship building techniques.
Trains veterinarians to create value by providing physical proof of their service
Addresses any client concerns with patience and compassion
DVM or VMD, Negotiation and Interpersonal Communication
The medical director reports to the CMO. Reporting includes monthly Doctor Meeting minutes and other repots as assigned by supervisor.
Hiring, retention, disciplinary procedures and termination of associate veterinarians. Set medical standards. Develop training for technical non-veterinary staff. The members of the management team are mutually accountable to each other and the team, as a whole, accepts accountability for the results of the team's actions.
