I am searching for a practice unicorn. Our practice is looking for a veterinarian to join our family and to embrace our practice ideals. We need a veterinarian to grow our practice to help us survive in a world full of corporate chain practices. We need someone who is able to adapt to changing situations and handle both busy and slow days with the same enthusiasm. We want someone who is in it for the long haul, not for a couple of years of instant gratification. We want a veterinarian who is happy to development relationships with our rescue partners, members of the community and clients. We want a well rounded individual with good work ethic, able to work effectively within a team and also lead when leadership is required. We don't want a warm body propped up against the wall with a degree and a license.
Our practice is busy and provides a wide array of services to a wide array of clients and patients. We see affluent people and people with $50 in their pocket....we treat them all the same. We see cats, dogs, horses, pot bellied pigs, goats, rabbits, sugar gliders. We have no plans to do reptile or avian medicine.
We have a heavy surgery load and a doctor with over 20 years of intensive surgical experience ready and willing to train a new doctor. We have an excellent digital x-ray, ultrasound and a full in house bloodwork suite. We do both orthopedic and soft tissue surgery. We can most likely castrate anything-horses, cattle, goats, pigs, sugar gliders, dogs, cats, rabbits and the occasional pet skunk. We will tackle whatever we feel we can safely and effectively do. We welcome challenges and are not quick to refer unless we feel it's in the best interest of the animal. We are fully automated with cloud based software and no paper files.
The opening is for a full time doctor, but.......for the right candidate, we would consider part time.
We are not looking for an employee, we are looking for a partner in our mission.
Must be licensed in Georgia and have a valid DEA license and liability insurance. Must be able to work when needed. Scheduling is done to help the practice first and every effort will be made to allow for plenty of off time, but if needed on a weekend or even holiday, the candidate needs to be ready and willing to work.
Need to have surgical aptitude. Actual skill and experience would be nice, but not necessary if aptitude and desire are present. Candidate has the opportunity to learn how to do a wide range of surgical procedures.
Must be able to multitask. When it gets busy, must be able to remain focused and get the job done. Must be able to pitch in and help when things get busy. Must be able to work with and delegate effectively to the staff.
Communications skills are a must--verbal and written. Documentation skills also necessary, meaning candidate must be able to document all treatments and exams in an understandable manner.
Must have a sense of humor!!!!! Perhaps this should be first on the list.
Must be compassionate towards both clients and patients, but pragmatic. No activists need apply. We serve the client and don't push our personal agendas on anyone.
Must love being a veterinarian and have curiosity and drive to always learn more and develop. Must appreciate that this job is a calling and not just employment.
