Larimer Humane Society seeks qualified applicants for the position of Supervising Veterinarian. Please include start date availability and salary requirements in a cover letter. As Northern Colorado’s largest open-admission animal care facility we provide shelter, medical attention and care to thousands of lost, abandoned, injured, abused, ill and orphaned animals each year. Serving in a leadership role, the Supervising Veterinarian is responsible for the daily operations of the Society’s Veterinary Services department managing the health of the Shelter population, the surgical program and disease control protocols. The position supervises Shelter Veterinarians, Veterinary Technicians and Assistants, Veterinary and Veterinary Technician students and department volunteers. Our Supervising Veterinarian is a key staff member collaborating and working closely with the Shelter Manager, the Director of Animal Protection and Control and the Foster and Transfer Coordinators. Must be licensed in the State of Colorado to practice veterinary medicine (or obtain license soon after hiring) and maintain certification. Minimum of one-year experience as an animal shelter veterinarian with substantial responsibilities for population-level issues required. High quality/high volume surgical sterilization experience required. Must be qualified and eligible to obtain and maintain a DEA license and maintain Professional Liability Insurance. Minimum of more than one-year staff supervisory experience required as is emotional intelligence, work ethics and integrity skills.
