Carlsbad Animal Clinic, located in Southeastern, NM, is looking for an Associate Veterinarian to join our practice (Up to $30,000 sign-on bonus and student loan repayment incentive)!

Carlsbad Animal Clinic is a growing practice located in Carlsbad, New Mexico and is primarily a small animal practice which also sees some exotic pets.  Our team oriented environment provides a supportive working atmosphere and an efficient clinic.  Our work schedule affords ample time for family and other personal endeavors. Great opportunity to grow as a Veterinarian, especially for those looking to practice their own medicine in a beautiful community.

About Carlsbad Animal Clinic

  • A full service hospital, we offer all aspects of veterinary surgery and medicine
  • Free standing 4000 sq. ft. building, three exams rooms, separate waiting areas for cats and dogs
  • In house lab (Idexx)
  • Digital radiographs, digital dental radiographs, and dental unit with a high speed drill
  • Surgical suite with two surgery tables and the latest monitoring equipment. Surgeries and dental procedures performed on a daily basis
  • Mainly dogs and cats with some exotics and zoo work

Eddy County offers many outdoor activities including hiking, caving and biking.  Water skiing, boating and fishing are available on the Pecos River which winds through Carlsbad.  Carlsbad Caverns National Park is minutes away and winter sports are available approximately two hours away.  Carlsbad is a friendly community with many amenities conducive to family living.  Our school system sports the highest paid teachers in the state.  Carlsbad is a great place to live and practice veterinary medicine!

Qualifications

  • A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited university. 
  • Licensure in good standing to practice in New Mexico.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop a rapport with clients and determine their needs and wishes; perform physical examinations and diagnostic/medical/surgical/dental procedures in a way that will deliver the highest quality care while minimizing patient stress and discomfort. 
  • Explain physical examination findings and communicate to the client a diagnosis of the pet?s problems; generate and present a treatment plan for the pet to the client; educate clients on preventative health care, including vaccines and appropriate nutritional products.
  • Maintain client/patient medical/surgical records and make certain all necessary logs are kept up-to-date through established protocols; assist colleagues in follow-up and future management of the patient. 
  • Stay up-to-date with new medical information and changes in veterinary medicine, attend Continuing Education meetings. 
  • Assist in the development of the paraprofessional team to ensure the delivery of the highest quality care and exceptional client service. 
  • Positively represent the hospital in the professional community and to the general public.
  • Other duties as assigned.
