Pensacola Humane Society is adding a full time Veterinarian to our team!
Located in the beautiful Florida panhandle on the Gulf of Mexico, Pensacola Humane Society (PHS) is poised for rapid growth over the next few years and we are currently recruiting one or more full time veterinarians to help manage that growth.
PHS is a limited admission no kill facility that partners closely with area municipal animal services and animal welfare groups with a goal of saving all the dogs adn cats in our region. Our mission however doesn't end with animals in the shelter but includes improving the lives of pets and community cats throughout our community by providing a safety net of services for those in need.
We currently handle 2500+ dogs and cats in our shelter annually, providing spay/neuter and all other needed medical services. Our spay//neuter clinic provides 5,000+ sterilizations each year and we are starting to offer a limited amount of wellness services and are looking to expand services offered.
To help facilitate our growth we are adding a full-time veterinarian. This position is responsible for overseeing the health care of all the pets in our shelter as well as providing spay/neuter and some low cost services to the general public. Experience in, or a desire to learn quality shelter medicine and high volume, high quality spay/neuter is important. This position is a mixture of overseeing every aspect of care for our shelter pets and providing excellent medical care for community pets in our public clinic. Experience working with feral/community cats is a bonus.
The shelter veterinarian reports to the Executive Director and is a vial part of the senior management team, working closely with the shelter and clinic teams. We provide continuing education, licensing costs, PLIT, paid time off and other benefits.
