"LVVS has been a great place to work and I will miss my coworkers, my clients and the practice. At LVVS, veterinarians get opportunities to practice quality medicine and maintain the trust of loyal clients. With digital radiology, dental radiology, abdominal ultrasound, an EPOC analyzer, a coag machine and a full IDEXX lab on the premises, LVVS is outfitted with the diagnostic tools that allowed me to practice general medicine to its fullest. One of my personal highlights during my time at LVVS was the opportunity to practice and improve my soft tissue surgery skills; specific examples include foreign body surgeries, cystotomies, and cesarean sections. LVVS is a busy practice. Although there can be long hours at times, management at LVVS understands this and provides generous compensation as well as time off throughout the month to allow their veterinarians to recharge."

We are seeking additional veterinarians. Ours is a privately owned, general practice in small animal medicine and surgery located in north central Vermont. We have a busy daytime practice and provide limited emergency cover for our area (daytime and up to ten pm, resume at 8 am), so a liking for that aspect of care is a plus.
One of our hopes is to add an ER practice separate from the day practice; as we have the facility and equipment available for taking on challenging cases. Hence an interest in ER/Critical Care work, and practice management, could provide a amazing opportunity for the right person.
Veterinarians are encouraged and supported in developing areas of interest. Group practice and its inherent collaboration naturally fosters learning, and formal mentorship opportunities are available.
This is a practice that is constantly changing, with "for the better" driving such efforts. You could contribute to its evolution by paying attention to what works, and proposing trying things that could work better.
LVVS was founded in 1985, achieved AAHA certification in 1988, and built a new free-standing hospital in 1998. We have a long history of investing in our people, equipment, and facility. Currently staff numbers 29, including 5 veterinarians, and with support staff working 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. At least 1/2 of the staff has been on board for more than a decade. We have good referral relationships with area veterinary specialists.
Services provided include 1st opinion activities (wellness care, medical case work-ups and management, dentistry, surgery [come learn laparoscopic surgery!], reproductive services, laboratory, imaging, telemedicine, emergency and critical care. We are currently developing rehabilitation and behavior offerings, and are remodeling our original building to house those services). We have a canine blood bank on-site with a staff/client owned donor program. Radiographs and ultrasounds can be reviewed by board-certified radiologists if needed; and all imaging is digital - radiographs, dental radiographs, and ultrasound.
We have regular in house staff education, a generous CE budget, and our practice has an advisory steering committee (cross sectional in terms of staff positions). Our mission is "patient advocacy as a team". Our nursing/technical support staff is superb, and our doctors have more time to be doctors as a result.
Lamoille County is a great place to live, play, grow, raise a family, and be a veterinarian; although away from many of the elements of the "rat race" there is still plenty of interesting work.
Licensed (in Vermont) veterinarian competent in small animal medicine and surgery.
Additional Salary Information: Compensation method similar to ProSal (but better, as paid time off is in the calculation). Earnings percentages on services are 24, 35, and 45 %, depending on the work involved.
Internal Number: December 2018
