Our hospital is located in a beautiful area of southern California near the beach and nestled in a tranquil setting surrounded by orchards. We are a full service surgical, medical and sports medicine facility. Superior case management and compassionate care really differentiate us, therefore we have a high rate of repeat clients. We recently added high quality MRI and are thrilled to see our  diagnostic and therapeutic caseload expanding. Our staff is friendly and helpful and we all work well as a team. We enjoy learning from our externs and in turn, they leave West Coast Equine very confident, have strong skills and are ready to continue their schooling or expand their practice skills. We strive for our externs to develop strong procedural skills and evaluations in all areas of equine medicine and surgery, to develop their diagnostic and therapeutic plans, to participate in case management, to communicate effectively and compassionately with clients, to stimulate an interest in pursuing a rewarding career in equine veterinary medicine, to practice effective teamwork with colleagues, technical and clerical staff and enjoy learning about equine veterinary services. Our externs participate in  daily inpatient evaluations, preventative medicine, assistance with medical and surgical cases, sport medicine examinations, in-hospital patient monitoring, reproductive work.

We provide complimentary housing. Externs should inquire about available dates and then a more specific description package will be emailed on confirmation regarding transportation and extern requirements. See our website: WestCoastEquine.net or follow us on Facebook or Instagram.

Enrolled or completed a degree in veterinary medicine, excellent horse handling skills.
