Orion Veterinary Clinic is a mixed animal veterinary clinic serving the Quad City area. We provide high quality veterinary care for livestock, horses, companion animals and some exotics. We are searching for a full time Associate Veterinarian to join our fast pace growing practice. Our current staff consists of two full time veterinarians and a team of experienced technicians.  The clinic is open from 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday, 8 am to Noon on Saturday and closed on Sunday. Patients are seen by appointment only with the expectation of emergencies. Veterinarians are expected to work a 4-day workweek and some Saturdays. They are also placed on a rotating on-call schedule for large animal emergencies.
 
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Examinations on small and large animals with corresponding diagnostic procedures when warranted
  • Perform routine preventative care for companion and farm animals
  • Provide in-field emergency care on large animals
  • Prescribes, administers, and supervises appropriate treatments for animals
  • Surgical procedures
  • Operate medical equipment, such as x-ray machines, ultrasound, IDEXX diagnostic machines, etc.
  • Operate Cornerstone, such as billing, scheduling, etc.
  • Inform clients about general care, medical conditions, and treatments for their pets.
  • Humanely and compassionately euthanize animals when appropriate
  • Provide after-hours emergency services for large animals on a rotating basis
  • Provide proper animal handling and care practices
  • Abide by
  • Ensures animals are being cared for daily, including water, feed, and management 
  • Ensure the welfare of all animals
  • Assist with other duties as assigned
  •  company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPS)
EDUCATION:
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree and will need to acquire an Illinois and Iowa license

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Small animal medicine and surgery
  • Large animal medicine and surgery
  • Knowledge of overall business policy and operations
  • Thorough understanding of diseases and disorders
  • Excellences within an fast pass work environment
  • Motivation to be a self starter and ability to work with limited supervision
  • Communication with various behavioral styles
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, walk for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs unassisted
