We are seeking to appoint an outstanding senior academic as Clinical Professor or Clinical Associate Professor in Equine Sports Medicine.  As the successful applicant, you will have the personal attributes and skill to help lead the School’s vision of developing a centre of excellence in equine sports medicine and rehabilitation.  You will be expected to adopt a leadership role within the team, mentoring junior academics in research and teaching, as well as working with Hospital and School management to grow and shape our clinical service.

You will provide high quality teaching to Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) students in equine practice through direct clinical instruction and through didactic teaching opportunities and you will be expected to supervise postgraduate research students and residents.  Some on-call and after hours work may be required. 

You must be a leading authority within the discipline of equine sports medicine and will have an international reputation for excellence.  Importantly, you will be known for your positive approach and your capacity to build a team and develop those around you.

About us

SSVS is home to over 68 academic and 126 dedicated professional staff committed to ensuring the highest quality experience and outcomes for our DVM and research students. We employ a multidisciplinary and collaborative approach to research and clinical service, which in turn, informs our teaching. Our community of approximately 480 veterinary students and 100 higher degree by research (HDR) students are enabled to develop their skills in inquiry, evidence-based medicine and innovation.

Our school operates across two campuses, Camperdown (inner-city) and Camden (peri-urban) and has three teaching hospital facilities that provide unique learning experiences and research opportunities.

The position will be based at the University’s Camden campus within the newly formed Equine Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation centre, whose goal is to become a premier provider of sports medicine and performance health in horses led by high quality research and teaching. The appointee will advance knowledge in Sports Medicine through research, supervision of post-graduate students and other scholarly activities.

Term and remuneration

The successful applicant will be offered a full-time continuing position, subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation and confirmation period for new appointees. The selected candidate will be offered an attractive remuneration package commensurate with the responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s relevant experience and qualifications.
