The Wisconsin Equine Clinic & Hospital is seeking a committed, enthusiastic veterinarian to join our team of 8 veterinarians. The successful candidate should have a strong interest in all aspects of equine theriogenology and deal well with both clients and referring veterinarians.  The reproductive department has a well-established caseload that is mare-dominant, with most work consisting of routine artificial insemination with cooled or frozen semen. Embryo transfer is performed; typically embryos are flushed and shipped to a recipient herd, but opportunities for transfer into client-owned recipient mares exist. The candidate would be responsible for foaling out 5-10 routine pregnancies in the clinic each spring, along with high risk pregnancies as needed. Stallion work consists primarily of routine collection and processing for shipment. The candidate will be expected to perform twin reductions and fetal sexing, manage sub-fertility in the mare and stallion.

The ideal candidate should be a team player and be motivated to grow the reproductive department.  The reproductive department has 30 stalls available to them for in clinic patients, 8 paddocks and a fully stocked vehicle for ambulatory reproductive needs

The new associate would be expected to lead the reproductive department.  They should be well versed in dealing with reproductive patient management and care.  They should have expertise with both routine and challenging reproductive cases.  Fresh and frozen semen handling, embryo collection and transfer, occasional stallion management and the development of newer reproductive techniques are encouraged.  Problem pregnancies along with some foaling mares in hospital is a requirement as well.  The ability to communicate and deal well with both clients and referring veterinarians is an important component to long term success.

NOTES:
