We are seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician to join an amazing group of people who share a passion for animals, and love what they do! VCA Covington Animal Hospital is a Certified Fear Free Practice as well as AHAA accredited. All of our employees are provided the necessary tools and training to complete all the levels of the fear free training program to become fear free certified professionals. Through the training program you will become part of a team that share the common goal of providing a fear, anxiety, and stress free environment for people and their four legged family members.

Our hospital is the only veterinary hospital within the Covington city limits and has been serving the city and surrounding areas for over 25 years. We develop close relationships with our clients and their pets. We have a unique culture in our hospital that values each person’s individual skill and personality.

The successful candidate will be a believer in the possibilities of high quality veterinary medicine and patient care with the expertise and technical know-how to make them happen. He or she must have a strong desire to learn, and participate in hospital paid CE events design to improve your skills.

In this position you will be supporting our Doctors and Technician team by creating a positive, low-stress atmosphere for our clients and patients.

Duties will include:
Assisting doctors and other hospital staff by caring and cleaning of patients and facilities including completing patient treatments, assisting in all animal care functions as well as other tasks involved in the operations of a veterinary hospital. Experience with surgical procedures, dentistry, anesthesia, and patient monitoring are  also necessary.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Previous experience or training/education working in a veterinary facility are a must.
• Must be friendly, outgoing, “people oriented.”
• Excellent communications skills.
• Must be capable of being cross-trained for front office receptionist duties that will be expected in the job
• Telephone and computer skills are necessary.
• Must be a team player willing to learn new techniques and treatments and to accept

Physical Requirements:
• Dependable attendance is required.
• Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
• Must be willing to work long or irregular hours under pressure conditions.
• This position requires the ability to walk, bend, stand and reach constantly during a minimum 8-hour day.
