JOB GOAL:

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: 

Under minimal supervision, the instructor is responsible for fostering student learning in the area of Veterinary Technician and Veterinary Assistant programs in Career and Technical education (CTE) for the Agriculture Sciences Department.   A course load of 15 credit hours per semester is required.  Teaching load will be assigned by the Administration. Teaching responsibilities will include but not limited to: Large Animal and Poultry Medicine, Veterinary Pharmacology and Pharmacy Skills, Animal Nutrition.  Must evaluate, record, and report student achievement and progress in assigned courses in accordance with department, division, and college policies and procedures.  Responsibilities will also include advising of current and prospective students, and providing assistance in development and implementation of departmental initiatives, management of Large Animal Skills Lab. Must be responsible for meeting the goals and objectives of an individual Professional Preparation Plan as outlined in the College's Quality Faculty Plan.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Effectively organize, prepare, and teach assigned courses in accordance with established syllabi.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate course syllabi and course handouts for each course taught.
  • Evaluate and record student performance/achievement on a regular basis and provide students with timely feedback.
  • Participate in student learning assessment projects.
  • Maintain established office hours and meet with students as necessary.
  • Collaborate in the development, assessment, and revision of curriculum.
  • Participate in the development and/or execution of departmental tasks and projects in the area of instruction or instructional support.
  • Regularly engage in professional development activities and actively seek information about developing trends and ideas.
  • Perform other related work duties as assigned.

  • Participate regularly in professional development and growth activities such as internal and external workshops, and conferences.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • RVT from AVMA Accredited program with five years of recent, relevant full time work experience in veterinary medicine.

 

 

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED: 

 

  • RVT and / or DVM licensed in State of Iowa.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:

 

  • DVM licensed in State of Iowa with a minimum of 2 years’ relevant full time work experience in veterinary medicine.
