The Department of Veterinary Physiology and Pharmacology in the College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences at Texas A&M University (http://vetmed.tamu.edu/), invites applications for an eleven month, full time, non-tenure track instructional assistant or associate professor to serve in our new 2+2 DVM program at VERO (Texas A&M Veterinary Education, Research & Outreach program https://vetmed.tamu.edu/vero/) on the West Texas A&M University campus in Canyon, Texas. Developed as part of the Texas commitment to animals and agriculture, VERO represents a dynamic partnership between the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences (CVM) and West Texas A&M University and is set in the heart of one of the most productive animal agricultural regions in the world.  VERO provides unprecedented opportunities for veterinary education and collaboration with industry partners and stakeholders from the region and across the nation.  Canyon, Texas is located near Palo Duro Canyon State Park, home to the second largest canyon in the country. This area provides scenic hiking, biking, camping, and horseback riding. Additionally, winter skiing in Taos, NM is within driving distance.

The successful candidate will have an academic home in the department of Veterinary Physiology and Pharmacology within the  TAMU College of Veterinary Medicine and will work collaboratively with VERO faculty members, as well as, faculty members located on the College Station campus to administer and deliver the 2+2 curriculum.

Texas A&M University is committed to enriching the learning and working environment for all visitors, students, faculty, and staff by promoting a culture that embraces inclusion, diversity, equity, and accountability. Diverse perspectives, talents, and identities are vital to accomplishing our mission and living our core values. Texas A&M University is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action/Veterans/Disability Employer committed to diversity.

Teaching responsibilities will include instruction in normal mammalian physiologic function with an emphasis upon application in the clinical setting to help students make the connection between physiologic knowledge and the practice of veterinary medicine. Faculty in the DVM 2+2 program will be expected to “cross-over” and teach in multiple courses to reinforce content related to their subject matter interest across the highly experiential and integrated 2+2 program.  This is a new program and adjustments in the position design and flexibility in the faculty appointment will be considered.
