Join the ASPCA's Community Medicine team and help bring veterinary care directly to the communities who need it most. We offer a range of free or low-cost, top-quality medical services that goes far beyond basic wellness. Operating a combination of stationary and mobile clinics equipped to treat a wide range of medical conditions, ASPCA veterinarians improve the health and welfare of animals whose owners face financial barriers to care in the five boroughs of New York City.

  • Ability to maintain open mind regarding changes and be willing to learn, implement, and teach new protocols
  • Ability to work equally well independently or as part of a team
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Microsoft Office and Outlook proficiency
  • Must be able to lift and carry 40-plus pounds repeatedly throughout day with assistance
  • Must be interested in animal welfare population control and serving low-income communities
  • Must have excellent work attendance record
  • Must have strong interest in animal welfare and/or promoting spay/neuter
  • Must hold NY State Veterinarian License
  • Must possess ability to work in high-volume, fast-paced clinic environment
  • Must possess excellent animal handling skills, including the ability to lift and move domestic animals in stressful conditions, up to 25 lbs with assistance
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills, with the ability to maintain good working relationship with clients and staff
  • Must possess the ability to work efficiently and calmly under challenging conditions, including the ability to occasionally work in physically challenging conditions and wear appropriate protective gear
  • Must possess the ability to work standing for 8-plus hours
  • Will be required to reach, bend, crouch, climb, kneel, and move freely to access animals in overhead and low cages when necessary.
