Heron’s Crossing is seeking compassionate veterinarians to provide in home euthanasia services in the greater metro Atlanta area.  We currently have part time and full time positions available that include weekday, early evening and weekend shifts.

  • A job with Heron’s Crossing offers the opportunity to provide gentle and compassionate care to treasured pets as they pass peacefully at home, while offering understanding and comfort to families.
  • You will enjoy the flexibility of fewer appointments each day and the freedom to spend as much time as you need with the families who ask for help, as appointments are scheduled every 2 hours during your shift.
  • We are committed to ensuring the health and safety of our doctors and the families we serve, and we believe in work-time boundaries.

Embrace the compassion that led you to vet school in the first place and join our team of veterinarians in a practice devoted to loving, peaceful in-home euthanasia for small pets in the greater metro Atlanta area. All services are provided in the homes (or backyards) of our families.

About Us

Heron’s Crossing was founded by Lauren Cassady, DVM, in January 2020. While the business itself is new, Dr. Lauren has worked exclusively in end-of-life care for small animals in Atlanta since 2014.  Over the past year, in the middle of a pandemic, Heron’s Crossing has grown enough to support more veterinarians.

About the Role

As a Heron’s Crossing Veterinarian, you will

  • Provide in-home euthanasia services
  • Offer quality-of-life consultations to families of aging or seriously ill pets
  • Arrange and transport pets for aftercare

About You

You must be a Veterinarian licensed in the state of Georgia. Beyond your talents and skills as a vet, these are skills, traits and equipment required

  • Genuine compassion and empathy for pets and the families who love them
  • Ability to provide comfort through strength to grieving families
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds unassisted
  • A well-organized, properly maintained minivan, CUV or SUV capable of safely transporting pets for aftercare
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Current DEA license
  • Smartphone capable of using mapping applications and the ability to use the phone in handsfree mode in the vehicle
  • Willingness to travel throughout the 13 counties defined as the Greater Metro Atlanta area

Our Offer

  • An appealing salary that reflects your abilities and experience
  • Production bonuses
  • Mileage paid by the company
  • Paid time off after six months of employment
  • Licensure and liability insurance and continuing education negotiable
  • All medical supplies, including PPE, provided by the company
  • Our support team is available to speak with families seven days a week, and they will set appointments for you within your scheduled shift.
