A two doctor equine practice is looking to hire an associate veterinarian to join our ambulatory team.  Covered Bridge Equine, P.C. is located in Watkinsville, GA, a small town just outside of Athens, GA.   We are looking for a motivated individual with a positive viewpoint and a sense of humor who is interested in working in ambulatory equine practice.  The veterinarian will initially be introduced to clients and mentored throughout the first few months with daily farm calls and emergency medical cases so they can become more familiar with the practice area and client communication.  This is a 100 % equine practice with a case load consisting of performance evaluations, lameness, dentistry, chiropractic, endoscopy, reproduction, acupuncture, emergency medicine, and general preventative care.

Covered Bridge Equine was established in September, 2002 and has a wonderful support staff including office co-workers and technicians.  We also have numerous preveterinary and veterinary students who ride with us on farm calls in order to gain veterinary experience. We have weekly doctor meetings to discuss current cases.  We are located just 15 minutes from the University of Georgia Veterinary Teaching Hospital and we refer cases there on a regular basis.

Our practice area has an active fox hunting and eventing sport horse population.  We also see dressage horses, hunter/jumpers, Western performance horses and pleasure/trail horses.  Recently we have seen an increase in miniature horses and miniature donkey populations as well!  We enjoy relatively mild winters with classic south-eastern summers.  The North Georgia mountains are only a couple of hours away and the Atlantic ocean is about 4 hours away.   Our doctors enjoy different hobbies when not working such as trail riding, team roping, running, hiking and kayaking.  Time with family is also a priority and we schedule appointments with this in mind.

Salary will be commensurate with experience.  Experience is desirable but new graduates will be considered.  We offer 2 weeks of paid vacation and three sick/personal days.  Covered Bridge Equine will pay a monthly stipend for cell phone use, and worker's compensation and malpractice insurance will be paid.  The associate veterinarian will be responsible for covering his/her health and disability insurance.  In addition, a $1500.00 continuing education stipend will be provided per year.  Unpaid maternity leave is also offered.  Georgia state license, AAEP dues, and AVMA dues will also be paid by CBE.

Application Process:  A one page maximum letter of intent describing how the job would meet the applicant's career goals.  A Curriculum Vitae listing three references.  A phone- skype interview and a site visit may be scheduled following the application screening process.
