We are seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician Supervisor to join our team.

The successful candidate will be a believer in the possibilities of high quality veterinary medicine and patient care—with the expertise and technical know-how to make them happen. Additionally this candidate must have a passion for coaching and leadership.

As a member of the VCA team, your mission will be to win the confidence of every pet parent—by delivering an outstanding client experience—so they will partner with us for the lifelong care of their companion animals.

A successful candidate will have outstanding technical skills while training, supervising, and assisting the Assistant/Technicians in their performance of a variety of technical and client education duties that facilitate patient care and hospital operations. Additionally this candidate will be expected to lead the creation of employee schedules that align with doctor, team, surgery and outpatient needs while monitoring overtime and payroll costs. The Supervisor will make arrangements to cover shifts by either seeking coverage by technical team or covering shifts his/herself. The successful candidate will be a great communicator and will make recommendations to the Hospital Manager concerning personnel matters, disciplinary actions and follow through. The Supervisor will lead by example, nurturing a culture of positivity and continued learning.

The skills that you will be utilizing include, but are not limited to:
• Excellent communication and delegation
• Ability to effectively and supportively give/receive feedback
• Training, education, developing of staff
• Scheduling
• Ability to enforce policies, lead new hire processes, conduct disciplinary actions, and support employee relations and communications
• Must be able to handle multiple tasks at once and deal with high levels of stress in an environment of changing priorities 
• Attention to detail while maintaining larger operational goals
• Must have strong medical skills
• Venipuncture
• Catheter placement
• Radiology
• Anesthesia monitoring
• Physical examinations and patient assessment
• Surgical preparation and assisting
• Dentistry
• Laboratory work
• Pharmacy
• Patient recovery
• Compassionate care for our hospitalized patients

Schedule will vary often and frequently requires weekend/evening work.
