Duke Animal Hospital is an privately owned (non-corporate) veterinary clinic located in the Lakeview/Wrigleyville neighborhood of Chicago.  We have over 16,000 patients in our active care.  We have 6 full-time veterinarians and a large support staff.  We are looking to add more full-time or part-time associates.  Our clients are dedicated to their pets and motivated to seek high quality care.  We treat dogs, cats and exotic pets (birds, small mammals, reptiles, ferrets, rabbits, rodents, some amphibians).  Dr. Duke has worked at Chicago Exotics and Niles Bird Hospital and has a broad experience base in exotic medicine.

Our hours are Monday through Saturday 7 am to 7 pm.  We close all major holidays and the eve of most holidays.  We have the “best of both worlds” because there are two 24-hour critical care centers in close proximity so we are able to refer cases as needed and have great specialty support.  However, we also see many emergency cases and surgeries.

We offer wellness care, illness care and emergency services as our availability allows.  We have an onsite surgical suite for performing surgeries such as spay, neuter, mass removal, laparotomy, splenectomy, enucleation, cystotomy, etc.  We use a ForceTriad surgical unit with the Ligasure Impact and Small Jaw sealing/dividing instruments as well as a smoke evacuator and hand-controlled blended Ligasure electrocautery.  We have an advanced dental suite with two tables, two high speed hand piece units (Dentalaire and VetPro 1000) and a Progeny digital dental radiograph unit.  We take full mouth radiographs for dentals and perform advanced dental procedures including creating gingival flaps, alveolar bone removal, root sectioning, alveoloplasty and gingival releasing for closure.   We have a Class IV Companion laser unit which we use for arthritis, wound management, and other conditions.

We have an ultrasound unit with real time Oncura sonographer support.  This is a great learning environment for ultrasound.  We generally do two or three ultrasounds a week, sometimes more.  We also have the ability to do sonographer guided echocardiograms when necessity dictates although we have local board-certified cardiologists within close referral range.

We have a very strong support staff with 2 technicians and an assistant assigned to every veterinarian per shift.  Our techs are very experienced and also a lot of fun.   We get along and enjoy one another.

Our benefits include very competitive salary, Blue Cross Blue Shield Gold PPO medical insurance, Principal vision and dental insurance, 6 weeks PAID maternity or paternity leave, 401K with matching program, generous PTO (personal time off) plan, CE allowance, white coats and a great work environment.  If you are looking for employment where you can see a great mix of cases with strong mentorship, please contact Dr. Duke at dukeanimalhospital@gmail.com or call/text at 773-627-4200.

Check us out on Facebook, Instagram, Yelp.com and Google to see photos, videos, client reviews and more information about our hospital.

We will work with and mentor new graduates and are also looking for experienced DVMs.

NOTES:

Additional Salary Information: New graduates are put on straight salary for the first year then given the option of going on production based pay.
About Duke Animal Hospital
We opened our small animal and exotic animal hospital on the north side of Chicago in April 2011. We have been very successful and are now a 6 doctor practice open 6 days a week. We have an excellent staff of receptionists, technicians, assistants and hospital attendants. We are fortunate to have an affluent client base who are very dedicated to their pets as family members. Our services include comprehensive wellness, diagnosis and treatment of sick or injured pets, and surgical and dental procedures. We provide onsite ultrasound and echocardiography and see emergency cases as they arise during our hours of operation. We use a paperless, cloud based practice management software and are equipped with in house laboratory equipment, digital radiography, color flow doppler Oncura ultrasound with sonographer remote support, a surgical suite, and dental suite including Progeny digital dental radiograph and a Vetpro 1000 high speed dental unit.
