Highly progressive small/exotic animal hospital in Goose Creek and Ladson, SC is looking for a full-time associate to work between two hospitals. We are a well-established multi-doctor practice that seeks team members that are compassionate, excited to learn and bring their best game to the table.  We strive to be the best general small animal hospital in the area with great customer service, medical and surgical skills. We pride ourselves on maintaining a non-toxic work environment and are looking for an individual that can perform high quality, progressive medicine while contributing to a low stress environment. We have a full in-house lab, digital x-ray (including dental), ultrasound, surgical and therapy laser and are paperless. Enjoy a 4-day work week with some Saturdays but no holidays, emergencies or afterhours.  We offer a competitive benefits package that includes:

  • Examine animals to detect and determine the nature of diseases or injuries.
  • Treat sick or injured animals by prescribing medication, setting bones, dressing wounds, performing surgery, or other therapies following the standards of the veterinary profession.
  • Provide a coherent record of your findings.
  • Inoculate animals against various diseases.
  • Collect body tissue, feces, blood, urine, or other body fluids for examination and analysis.
  • Perform laboratory procedures and diagnostic tests, including parasitology, hematology and urinalysis.
  • Operate diagnostic equipment, such as radiographic and ultrasound equipment, and interpret the resulting images correctly.
  • Administer anesthetics, perform surgery, and monitor patients during surgery and recovery with the assistance of the technical team.
  • Follow discharge guidelines for hospitalized and post surgery patients and treatment plan guidelines for clients to ensure proper patient treatment in the home environment including client follow up post hospitalization.
  • Answer client questions and provide education on various aspects of animal care and treatment in a timely fashion. Advise animal owners regarding sanitary measures, feeding, and general care necessary to promote health of their pets.
  • Educate the public about zoonotic diseases.
  • Call back/follow-up with clients within 24 hours of being at work; recommend medical progress visits when appropriate.
  • Humanely euthanize animals when it has been mutually agreed upon by the patient’s owner.
  • Document actions by completing forms, reports, logs and patient records in a timely manner.
  • Train and supervise team members who handle and care for animals, as needed.
  • Deal with clients and employees in a manner that shows sensitivity, tact and professionalism.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to the healthcare team that will positively influence the level of care and service preceded to the clients and patients of Goose Creek Veterinary Clinic.
  • Participate in business development as instructed by management and/or ownership.
  • Attend bi-weekly team meetings and other pertinent in-house training as required by management.
  • Perform other duties assigned.
