Job Description:

VCA Jericho Animal Hospital located in Syosset, NY, is seeking an experienced Associate Veterinarian OR Medical Director to join our team!

About our practice:

Jericho Animal Hospital is an AAHA-accredited, 4-doctor small animal practice which has been providing full-service veterinary medical services to our local community for over 40 years. We provide proactive, preventative early disease detection including annual blood testing and prophylactic dental cleanings. Our support staff is second to none, with 2 LVT's, and 2 additional technicians completing their certifications. We're open 6 days per week, closed on Sundays, with some on-call availability to our clients.  Located on the quiet North Shore of Long Island, the Syosset area is very close to all major highways and stores.

·         Currently provide advanced surgical services as well as reproductive services since a large number of clients are top quality breeders that perform all sorts of diagnostics

·         Technicians are widely utilized, as they are well-skilled in all phases of surgical and medical nursing.

·         Many in-house diagnostics including full digital radiography (whole body using hands-free techniques and dental) ultrasound, CBC and chemistry machines.

·         In-house therapies including cold-therapeutic laser and cryoprobe

·         Doctors have a consistent, rotating schedule with a dedicated surgery day, including one-on-one support staff (or more if necessary, in busy or emergency situations)

Which applicants will be successful?

·         Must have excellent client communication skills

·         Detail oriented in medical record documentation

·         Strong surgical skills required, including routine spay and neuter, foreign body surgery, gastropexies, and splenectomies.  Orthopedics a plus..

·         Experience in dental extractions is a must

·         Experience in reproductive techniques, or a willingness to learn, preferred; including artificial insemination, semen evaluation, pregnancy check ultrasound, fetal heart rates, and caesarian sections.

·         Confident decision-making skills, with the ability to delegate to technicians

In this position you'll use your superior medical judgment combined with a high level of confidence, empathy and humility to build a loyal client base and heal pets.  We're looking for a doctor who is licensed in New York and has graduated from an accredited veterinary medicine program. Doctors who are successful at our practice are passionate about what they do, enjoy educating our clients, and tackling a wide variety of cases from basic to complex. We're looking for a team player, someone who steps in and assists wherever needed, and is comfortable consulting with others.
