We are seeking veterinarians for our Spay & Neuter Clinic and our Pets in Need low-cost veterinary clinic.

When you join the Potter League team you are able to focus on care, not production, and will be a hero to those who need you by making a life-changing, and often lifesaving, difference for pets and the people who love them.

Keeping pets happy, healthy and at home with the people who love them is central to our work. For many Rhode Islanders, the cost of quality veterinary care for their beloved pets is out of reach. Elderly, disabled, or disadvantaged pet owners are often left with nowhere to turn when their pet needs care. To help ensure that our community’s pets have access to quality veterinary care, and to keep pets with their loving families despite financial difficulty, the Potter League’s Pets in Need (PIN) Veterinary Clinic, located in Riverside, RI, provides compassionate, high-quality veterinary care to the pets of Rhode Islanders receiving public assistance. The Potter League Spay & Neuter Clinic, located in Warwick, Rhode Island, is committed to ending companion animal and community cat overpopulation by providing high quality, subsidized spay and neuter services using the ASPCA S/N Alliance model.

Rhode Island’s largest and most innovative animal welfare organization, the Potter League for Animals has three locations throughout the state. Our animal care and adoption center receives more than 2,000 dogs, cats, rabbits, and other small animals at our center annually and consistently maintains a Live Release Rate of 90% or higher. Our commitment to all animals means we are willing to pursue all reasonable efforts in order to provide for their well-being.

Why Choose Rhode Island?

It’s said good things come in small packages and this cannot be truer when describing Rhode Island. Covering an area of 1,214 square miles, Rhode Island offers 400 miles of beautiful coastline with some of the finest beaches one could hope to experience and, of course, fresh seafood. Northern Rhode Island offers hiking trails and a variety of lakes for fishing, kayaking, ice skating and more! Rhode Island has historic architecture and mansions, the arts, charming villages and Providence offers an urban experience that rivals that of other noteworthy cities around the country. Centrally located, Rhode Island is the gateway to Southern New England
- a hub of culture, scenic beauty, history and entertainment can be found throughout Rhode Island, nearby Massachusetts, and Connecticut. The best part? You’ll have your evenings and weekends free to enjoy it all!

  • Monday through Friday daytime hours
  • There are no weekends or on-call shifts
  • Work at the S/N Clinic, PIN Clinic or add variety to your week by working a combination of both
  • Competitive salary
  • Veterinarian License and Veterinary Association Membership Dues expenses, annual allowance for continued education, and PLIT insurance.
  • Generous vacation and sick time as well as seven paid holidays per year
  • Simple IRA plan with a match up to 3% of gross
  • Health and Dental insurance
  • A fun, friendly and supportive team
  • Flexible leadership that values your input

"It is wonderful working for a non-profit organization that is dedicated to improving the quality of veterinary care & access to veterinary care for so many pets in Rhode Island. The Potter League not only values the role of veterinary medicine in animal shelters, but also serves as a community resource center providing shelter, veterinary care, behavior training, spay & neuter services, owner assistance programs, and humane education to pet owners in our community. I thoroughly enjoy being part of a broad team of veterinarians dedicated to reducing pet overpopulation and providing high quality, affordable veterinary services to Rhode Island pet owners who might otherwise not have access to care through our Potter League Pets In Need Veterinary Clinic and Spay & Neuter Clinic." - Dr. Kendall Polansky

"Working for a not for profit practice has allowed me to focus on treating my patients with the best medicine possible while also taking care of pet parents and their financial concerns. I feel a great sense of satisfaction knowing that I am treating animals that would likely not receive veterinary care otherwise.“ - Dr. Samantha Schenck

Qualifications:

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree

License to practice veterinary medicine in Rhode Island, or ability to become licensed

Current DEA License, or ability to obtain.

Knowledge of the ASPCA Spay and Neuter Alliance model preferred but will train.

NOTES:
3 openings.

Additional Salary Information: Negotiable
