Description:

The Brother Wolf Mobile Veterinary Clinic is seeking an enthusiastic high-volume, high-quality spay and neuter surgeon to work four days a week on a mobile spay and neuter clinic. The clinic is based in Asheville, North Carolina, and travels four days each week to established sites throughout Western North Carolina within an hour radius. The surgeon will perform 15-25 spays and neuters each day on shelter and public animals, as well as community cats.

Brother Wolf will cover the cost of the veterinarian’s continuing education, licensing, and insurance requirements. We also have available heath, vision, dental, and life insurance, as well as an employee assistance program for our staff. As an employee of a nonprofit organization, you are eligible to apply for student loan forgiveness under the federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness program. We offer a PTO package of two weeks in your first year, with rising accrual rates for employees who have been with us for two or more years. For candidates moving to Asheville, we are willing to negotiate paid relocation costs to facilitate your move to our area.

We value continued training and education for all of our staff. We collaborate with the ASPCA Spay/Neuter Alliance to offer training and mentorship for all of our clinic staff and veterinarians. Our close proximity and relationship with the ASPCA S/N Alliance allows us to provide opportunities for further training and feedback on surgical techniques, anesthestic protocols, and patient care.

Brother Wolf is an established nonprofit in Asheville, North Carolina. We opened our first mobile spay and neuter clinic in November of 2018, which performed over 3,500 surgeries in its first 10 months. Our goal is to prevent pet overpopulation and euthanasia in shelters, and to provide a low-cost spay/neuter option. We also assist shelters and rescues in spaying and neutering pets before adoption. Our clinic staff performs surgery on dogs, cats, kittens, and puppies, including early-age animals. We have a friendly and flexible staff and are willing to work with our surgeons on their desired schedule. A typical schedule is four days a week, with no nights or weekends required.

Asheville is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina and boasts a vibrant arts and music scene, award-winning restaurants, beautiful mountain scenery, and comfortable weather year-round. The city was named #14 on Livability’s Top 100 Places to Live in 2019. There are numerous hiking trails, greenways, parks, lakes, and rivers in the region that are perfect for relaxing and enjoying the amazing natural landscape that Asheville and surrounding areas have to offer.

Requirements:

  • DVM from accredited university
  • Experience performing high volume, high quality spay/neuter surgeries
  • Must hold or be able to obtain valid NC veterinary license prior to employment
  • Must have current DEA license or be eligible to obtain a DEA license

  • Commitment and enthusiasm towards our mission of reducing pet overpopulation and improving the lives of animals in the community
  • Fosters a positive work environment
  • Willing to provide guidance and training to staff as needed
  • Works with the Clinic Director to strengthen protocols and procedures as needed

Salary: $90,000/year
