‘Associate’ means a co-worker, partner, or ally and that is exactly what we are looking for.  If you are also searching for a part- or full-time position within an exemplary work environment, please consider us and email Dr. Tom Chin, Medical Director, (tchinvmd@cox.net) for more information!

Sandbank Veterinary Hospital is a small animal practice located between Hartford and New Haven, CT.  We have served our community for 15 years and provide a full range of medical and surgical services.  In addition to digital radiographs and dental radiography, we also have access to a boarded radiologist and surgeon.  On the horizon, we are looking forward to a transition to paperless recordkeeping and the installation of our own ultrasound!

Sandbank is currently open during the week from 8am to 6pm with half days on Saturdays (8am to 12pm).  To support an ideal work-life balance, our new veterinarian would ideally have a four-day work week with alternating Saturdays.  We are also open to discussing a schedule that works best for you!

The ideal candidate would also be friendly, compassionate, and motivated to care for pets and people.  A good sense of humor with a high level of professionalism would be optimal.  Good communication skills are important and surgical skills are a plus, but the freedom to pursue your niche in veterinary medicine is encouraged.  New graduates are also welcomed to apply and will be considered.  We are looking forward to mentoring and sharing our knowledge of general practice with a new graduate or a seasoned veterinarian.

Sandbank Veterinary Hospital proudly offers:

  • Signing bonus up to $30,000, commensurate with experience
  • Generous compensation package
  • Medical, dental, vision, life, and short-term disability insurance
  • 401(k) plan with employer match
  • AVMA PLIT liability insurance
  • Paid time off for personal use and to attend continuing education
  • Annual CE stipend
  • Reimbursement for state/DEA licensure
  • Reimbursement for professional membership dues

About the Area:

We are located in Cheshire, CT – Money Magazine’s #28 best place to live in the entire United States! We are a charming New England town with a family-oriented community, excellent school system, exceptional public safety, and full range of hiking trails and orchards.  A wonderful place to live and work, Cheshire is located 30 minutes from both Hartford and New Haven.

About Sandbank Veterinary Hospital
Blue River PetCare's mission is to provide a long-term home for local practices that selling owners have worked so hard to build. We are dedicated to retaining the culture of each of our hospitals in addition to the local practice of medicine. We do this by ensuring each hospital has complete medical autonomy with their choice of protocols, therapies, inventory items, vendors and even management software. We also focus on our employees’ health and well-being as much as we do the pets we treat. We would love to hear from you!
