The opportunity:

Oakwood Animal Hospital is seeking a new Associate Veterinarian to join our small animal practice in Tallahassee, FL. We encourage experienced or new/recent graduates to apply. We pride ourselves on mentoring new/recent graduates to help prepare them for life as a general practitioner. Our experienced mentors will invest the time that you need to feel confident as a new veterinarian. We support your clinical interests and are constantly adding new therapies, new medications, and new equipment to stay current. Our hospital is equipped with in-house labs, digital dental and survey radiography, new surgical monitoring equipment and warming units to name a few. We have a great support staff of well-trained technicians and receptionists that allow you to be the doctor. What you will do:

The Associate Veterinarian is an invaluable member of the hospital team who collaborates directly with our current Doctors and supporting medical staff. This individual advances the quality of medicine in the practice and provides exceptional client service to our clients and patients by:

  • Builds rapport with clients by gathering information and listening to, and empathizing with their concerns
  • Performs physical examinations and diagnostic/medical/surgical/dental procedures that deliver the highest quality care while minimizing patient stress and discomfort.
  • Communicates with clients on topics such as pet diagnosis, treatment plans, preventive health care, and nutritional needs.
  • Maintains client/patient medical/surgical records and makes certain all necessary logs are kept up-to-date through established protocols.
  • Stays current on new medical information and changes in veterinary medicine.
  • Assists in the development of the paraprofessional team to ensure delivery of the highest quality care and exceptional client service.
  • Presents a positive image of the hospital in the professional community and to the general public.

Qualifications:

  • A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or related degree from an accredited university.
  • Licensure in good standing to practice in FL.
  • Commitment to practicing the highest standard of medicine and upholding veterinary code of ethics.
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Works collaboratively with hospital team members.
  • Makes decisions confidently and effectively.
  • Manages time and tasks appropriately.
  • Models a professional and courteous manner with staff and clients.
  • Commitment to ongoing educational development and growth

What you’ll enjoy:

Tallahassee is a lively college town with unique shops and diverse restaurants.  The housing varies from luxury apartment communities, rural homes, and planned suburban communities.  New shopping malls and boutique shops and plenty of festivals and concerts for entertainment.  Some of Florida’s most beautiful beaches are an easy day trip away and nearby rivers and parks offer fun outdoor activities.

Our compensation package includes competitive base salary, a signing bonus, a production bonus, CE stipend/AVMA/PLIT/DEA, health insurance, paid vacation and more.
