Opportunity for Full-time or Part-time Small Animal Veterinarian - Southwest Chicago

Licensed Veterinarian, either experienced or new graduate, sought for small but rapidly growing private practice in the Garfield Ridge neighborhood of Chicago.  Garfield Ridge is a working-class neighborhood in Southwest Chicago with a strong sense of community and a large number of families that are devoted pet owners.  We also provide the primary medical care for a local foster-only rescue, Mutts of the Midway.

Abbot Animal Hospital has been in the neighborhood for over twenty years and has many long-term, as well as new, clients.  We strive to be a valuable resource for the community, being involved in community events and providing high-quality veterinary care to our clients, regardless of their financial means.

We are committed to sustainability.  While we are still working to add more environmentally-friendly practices to our practice, we are currently practicing recycling and waste reduction measures to help preserve our environment.

We believe in unlimited improvement and growth of our practice through training and mentoring of our team and continual education and enhancement of our technical and medical capabilities.

We are seeking a new or experienced veterinarian to share his or her knowledge and skills with us and allow us to care for more patients, and are happy to provide mentoring to a less-experienced practitioner.  Skills or interests in performing orthopedic surgeries is desired, but not necessary.  Development of specialized expertise in areas of particular interest are strongly encouraged, and will be supported.  We are looking for a veterinarian who is dedicated to expanding knowledge and skills throughout her or his career and providing compassionate, personalized care to every patient and client.  The qualified candidate must be licensed to practice in the state of Illinois.

In addition to great clients and a great, caring, diverse, and supportive team, we offer digital radiology, digital dental radiology, convection patient warmers, an in-house laboratory, a user-friendly, paperless records system, and ultrasound imaging through an outside ultrasound service.  We also will provide a good quality of life through a work schedule that allows a good work-life balance and positive, supportive interpersonal relationships.

Compensation and benefits include:

  • Competitive salary with potential for bonuses as a reward for practice success
  • Medical insurance coverage
  • 401K retirement plan with some employer matching
  • Professional liability insurance and license fees
  • Continuing education allowance and paid membership in VIN and VetFolio
  • A hiring bonus upon signing a one-year contract and employment for 30 days
  • Paid time off
