Brand new, state-of-the-art shelter and community practice seeks Veterinarian to aid in serving the pets of Harris County.

Harris County Pets Resource Center is an open intake, municipal pet adoption and resource center that serves all of unincorporated Harris County. Part of the mission of Harris County Pets is to provide low cost, high quality care to the community by way of our Medical Clinic. As one of our Veterinarians, you will provide preventative and outpatient medicine to the community, educate clients about the animal care, assist in the humane care of sheltered and quarantined animals, and perform spays and neuters on sheltered and community pets. 

Our facility, completed the summer of 2020, boasts Ultrasound, digital x-ray, and IDEXX lab equipment for use on our shelter and community pets. As a part of this excellent team, you will offer advanced, low-cost or no-cost care to animals in need.

Come and join this excellent veterinary team that has aided in achieving a 98+% live release rate and provided low- or no-cost care to the underserved areas of this community.

 

 

Benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, Retirement plan. Annual AVMA, TVMA, HCVMA and licensing dues. 10 county holidays + 1 floating holiday per year. Vacation and sick time accrued over each pay-period.

Under this position, you may qualify for the Public Loan Service Forgiveness plan.

Requirements: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, Texas veterinary license, USDA Accreditation, DEA (DEA registration is fee exempt for government employees)

Harris County Public Health (HCPH) is the county health department for Harris County and provides comprehensive health services and programs to the community through a workforce of approximately 700 public health professionals – all dedicated to improving the health and well-being of Harris County residents and the communities in which they live, learn, work, worship, and play. The HCPH jurisdiction included approximately 2.3 million people and over 30 other municipalities located in Harris County (not including the city of Houston). The Veterinary Public Health (VPH) division of Harris County Public Health works in partnership with the community to create a safe, healthy and caring environment for residents and animals of unincorporated Harris County. Harris County Pets is operated by VPH.
