About us

For 16 years, Salazar Road Veterinary Clinic has delivered quality, compassionate, friendly care to the people and animals of Taos. We have a reputation for high quality medicine in an environment that promotes education and team development. You will join a team that has two full-time and two part-time veterinarians with an excellent support staff.  We have two doctors that are certified in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine.  We do have a therapeutic laser, an ultrasound, digital radiography, Dentalaire dental machine, and in house lab equipment.

About this role

As a veterinarian, you already know the day to day requirements of the job. Here are some other key skills the we think are important for our applicants:

  • examine and triage pets to diagnose their short and long term health issues and recommend the best treatment options
  • consult with clients to discuss treatment options with their pets
  • soft tissue surgery skills, orthopedic skills a plus
  • ability to prepare and deliver emergency procedures
  • shared emergency call within our clinic and with another clinic in town

Our location

Our offer

  • Starting salary between $85,000-$95,000 depending on experience level
  • Emergency bonuses for all after hours emergencies --$125-$150 per emergency call
  • Signing bonus after qualified period
  • 75% of premium paid for group health insurance plan
  • 3 weeks paid vacation after 6 months of employment that will increase annually
  • CE allowance + 5 extra paid days off for CE
  • Pet discounts including goods and services
  • Retirement plan with 3% match after 1 year of employment
  • AVMA dues, DEA license, NM professional license, NM pharmacy license, liability insurance paid

About Salazar Road Veterinary Clinic
We are a small animal clinic located in the beautiful northern New Mexico Mountains. We offer high-quality medicine in a small-town environment. We do surgery, medicine, dentistry, acupuncture, and chiropractic. There are 2 doctors that are certified in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. We have in house digital radiography, in house lab, cold therapy laser, and a new dental suite. We are interested in someone of any experience level who has a strong interest in practicing high-quality medicine and surgery. We are looking for the right person to join our team. We are looking for someone who has a great attitude and likes to work hard and play hard as our mountains offer all kinds of opportunities. There is world class skiing, rafting, kayaking, mountain biking, and hiking. There is also amazing art, music, and food.
