Veterinary Technician/Veterinary Assistant
Mobile Veterinary Specialists (MOVES) is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to support our Veterinary Internal Medicine specialist in the greater Northern Virginia area. This is a full-time, salaried position.

As part of a mobile practice, you will commute to the specialist's home and then travel to appointments with her in a company vehicle.

The ideal candidate will be organized and self-motivated. This position requires excellent time management and organization skills. Our internist will need your assistance much like a doctor in a speciality hospital would. Taking notes, preparing equipment and supplies, having professional and caring relationships with clients and patients, assisting the internist to move equipment as needed and building relationships are among the tasks that you will help perform. Traveling between clinics requires organization and time-optimization. Together, with your internist, you will be responsible for arriving on time with the appropriate equipment to the scheduled procedures.

The ability to work independently and efficiently is essential. Our internist will be relying on you to be their right-hand person and main support staff. This means gathering an understanding for routine and becoming more efficient through dedicated experience.

Schedule

A MOVES technician works when the specialist works. General business hours are Monday through Friday from 8AM to 5PM, but the actual schedule will vary from day to day and week to week. Technicians receive the same time off taken by their specialist, and are eligible for one week of additional paid time off.

Requirements:

  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Current Veterinary Certification preferred
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • 3+ years experience in the field

Experience with the following preferred:

  • Cleaning and sterilizing equipment
  • Providing comfortable, safe restraint for patients during procedures
  • Phlebotomy
  • IV Catheter Placement
  • Assistance with intubation for anesthetized cases
  • Ability to monitor anesthesia and assist with procedures
  • Medication administration
  • Basic medical mathematics
  • Inventory management
  • Client communication
  • Relationship development
  • Proficiency with iOS

NOTES:

Additional Salary Information: Compensation MOVES technicians are salaried employees with non-exempt status, meaning they still qualify for overtime pay if the work-week extends beyond 40 hours. MOVES technicians also participate in a production-based bonus program. Medical, Vision, Dental, Disability, and Life Insurance MOVES technicians enjoy the same great benefits as our specialists! The company covers 100% of employee premiums and 50% of dependent premiums for medical, vision, and dental insurance. This coverage applies to our base plan for medical; employees may elect to join the premium plan at a higher contribution rate. MOVES also provides company-paid short-term disability and life insurance coverage for all employees. Retirement 401k plan eligibility begins at 90 days.
