Rhawnhurst & Elkins Park Animal Hospital has been proudly serving the communities of Philadelphia, Bucks County and Montgomery County for over 40 years! We are a full-service animal hospital dedicated to quality medicine and care for small animals. Whether it be feathers, scales, or fluff and tails- we see it all! One of our veterinarians specializes in exotics and if this is an area of interest- come learn from us!

Our hospital provides services including, but not limited to, preventative care, soft-tissue surgery , an in-house full diagnostic laboratory, chronic disease management, digital radiology, and dental care. We also have an outstanding experienced support staff to make your job as efficient and easy as possible. Ongoing mentoring in all aspects of veterinary medicine is available.

Within a short train ride, one could travel into Center City, Philadelphia, the fifth largest city in United States. With easy access to Center City and an under two-hour commute to Manhattan, shopping and great restaurants are everywhere!

Essential Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Ensure the Safety of Pets, clients and associates by utilizing safe restraining techniques, following standard protocols and maintaining clean, sterile and organized treatment areas, exam rooms and labs.
  • Obtain relevant information and history from clients, and maintain proper and complete medical records.
  • Educate clients about Pet health needs, any diagnosis or treatment, hospital services and other related information.
  • Effective communication of diagnosis and treatment plan to veterinary medical team and client.
  • Understand and follow state guidelines regarding duties of veterinary assistants and licensed veterinary technicians.
  • Build quality treatment plans based on needs of the patient and clients.

Capabilities and Experience

  • Experience preferred, but happy to mentor a strong new grad!
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Organizational ability
  • Surgical skills - Proven ability to perform basic surgeries, including use of all standard medical instruments and equipment.
  • Client service skills - Consistently ensures the team provides the client with attentive, courteous and informative service.
  • Enthusiasm, and passion for ongoing development and learning in a collaborative environment.
  • Compassionate commitment to Pet care - Ensures hospital teams confidently present Pet treatment recommendations and associated fees as an advocate for the Pet, gaining the client's agreement to proceed with the treatment most appropriate to the Pet's current condition and long term health.

Job requirements-

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree required.
  • License in good standing in state of PA or ability to become licensed in PA
  • Proven ability to perform basic surgeries, including use of all standard medical instruments and equipment.
