North Shore Animal League America is currently seeking a full-time Veterinarian to join our 15 doctor, AAHA accredited facility. This position is a staff veterinarian position overseeing the health and medical needs of the canine and feline population in our shelter facilities. At full capacity this facility can house up to 200 felines (most in cage free communal housing) and 150 canines. The facility has dedicated examination rooms, medical treatment wards, as well as a feline surgical suite. Canine surgery and more advanced medical and surgical needs are performed in the AAHA accredited Medical Center. Infectious disease isolation and treatment would be handled in the state of the art Special Recovery Center. To learn more about our facilities, please visit phcanimalleague.com.


Job Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
• Provide consistent and high quality patient care
o Perform thorough physical exams
o Make appropriate recommendations for preventative care
o Ordering and interpretation of appropriate diagnostics
o Ensure medical records are complete and accurate
o Develop thorough and appropriate treatment plans (for inpatient or outpatient care)
o Maintain and modify the feline health protocols as needed
• Provide consistent and high quality patient care
o Educate adopters on all aspects of feline veterinary care
o Respond to callbacks and client inquiries in a timely manner
o Follow up on patients when warranted
• Surgical Service
o Able to perform routine spay-neuter in an efficient manner
o Must be able to perform 15-20 S/N surgeries in a shift
o Should be proficient in other routine procedures
• Be an active team player
o Work cooperatively with colleagues when needed
o Elevate problems/concerns to Chief of Veterinary Staff when appropriate
o Communicate with foster parents and manage the medical needs of animals in the Foster Care Program

Requirements:
• Experience preferred
• Compensation commensurate with experience


Additional compensation includes:
• $1200/year CE allowance and Reimbursement for AVMA Dues, NYS License and DEA License
