Sage Veterinary Imaging is an outpatient diagnostic imaging group, headquartered in Round Rock, Texas. We get answers for pets, owners, and referring veterinarians by using next-level human-quality 3T MRI, X-ray imaging, ultrasound technology, and a state-of-the art digital cytology lab.  With a fully equipped neurosurgery suite, we can accurately visualize, diagnose, and treat complex neurological conditions for dogs and cats in one place. Our clinics are teaching institutions that train veterinary interns and residents to become radiologists.

In 2022, we are proud to announce the development of an Externship program for DVM students.  The program will be based in Austin, Texas and will allow for close collaboration with our three ACVR board-certified radiologists. You will receive hands-on modality experience in a wide variety of the most advanced imaging modalities available, and access to our comprehensive archive of cross-sectional imaging cases.  Our program will be customized to meet the needs of the student and the practice, with durations ranging from two to eight weeks.  On call shifts will be scheduled for days, nights, and weekends. *Summer and holiday employment also available*

Qualifications

• Enrollment in an accredited DVM program
• Professional Liability Insurance
• Prior clinical experience (prior to vet school or from clinical rotations) highly preferred
• Completion of radiology and/or neurology clinical rotations is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Daily Radiology rounds with radiologists, neurologist, residents and DI interns
• Assist with our high volume of ultrasound procedures
• Learn the basics of performing ultrasound studies
• Assist in patient examinations and preparation for advanced imaging procedures
• MRI safety
• Proper positioning for MRI positioning
• Review MRI and CT studies performed in-house
• Assist in anesthesia and neurosurgery cases (learn a proper neurological examination!)
• Exceptional patient care
