Candidates are sought for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position in the Training Program in Laboratory Animal Medicine, Division of Animal Resources. The Division of Animal Resources (DAR), in partnership with the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation, researchers, students, and regulatory agencies, is responsible for ensuring high-quality animal care and for providing training in and consultation on the safe, humane use of laboratory animals in research and education in compliance with federal regulations and campus policies. DAR’s Animal Care Program is accredited by AAALAC International. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will participate in a three-year, ACLAM-approved Training Program in Laboratory Animal Medicine. This program entails clinical, regulatory, and didactic training along with clinical responsibilities and teaching participation. Additionally, the Postdoctoral Research Associate will complete a hypothesis-driven, original research study that results in a first author publication within a peer-reviewed journal. Successful completion of the training program and research publication will qualify the candidate as eligible for the ACLAM board examination.

The successful candidate will be self-motivated, able to work independently and in a team environment, and be committed to the clinical, didactic, and research duties of the program. Applicants must be veterinarians and graduates of an AVMA accredited school of veterinary medicine or have completed all ECFVG or PAVE requirements. The candidate should be licensed to practice veterinary medicine in at least one state or eligible to obtain a license within six months of hire.

The Postdoctoral Research Associate is a full-time, benefits-eligible position appointed on a 12-month service basis.  The appointment is for one year and will be up for renewal each year for a total of three years dependent upon performance. The target start date is September 1, 2022.
