Texas Equine Hospital is seeking a full-time Equine Associate Veterinarian.

Texas Equine Hospital is located in Central Texas.  Our hospital is a full service primary care and referral/second opinion hospital.  Texas Equine Hospital is an exclusively equine practice focusing on sports medicine and surgery (orthopedic and soft tissue), in addition to being a full service facility treating a wide range of primary care cases. We see around 15,000 horses a year. Our veterinarians  treat a wide array of disciplines including western performance, rodeo, racing, dressage, hunter/jumper, pleasure, polo, endurance and companion horses.

We have 2 boarded surgeons, 2 general practitioners, 4 interns, 20+ technicians, and 10 office staff/administrative support staff.  The hospital has a fully equipped surgical suite, three recovery rooms, two imaging rooms, five exam rooms, pharmacy, lab, reception area, two apartments, and a conference/surgery viewing room.  A covered 60 x 120 asphalt area is used for lameness evaluations. Adjacent to the main building is a 12 stall barn with 1 exam room used for dental work plus 30 outdoor covered stalls. There is also a climate controlled barn that has four ICU stalls and two Isolation stalls. A recent addition is a 16 stall barn with a climate controlled exam room.   A separate building houses a climate controlled farrier shop.  We have 2 ambulatory trucks.  Please see our website   www.texasequinehospital.com

Our imaging capabilities include upper respiratory video endoscopy, video gastroscopy, ultrasonography, and digital radiography.  We provide 24-hour care for foals and adult horses in our climate controlled intensive care unit and isolation facility.

We utilize the lameness locator, power dental equipment, electrochemotherapy, shockwave therapy, regenerative medicine, and chiropractic exams, etc.

Texas Equine Hospital has a strong team effort approach to practice.  We seek a candidate with good interpersonal skills and a strong work ethic.  We all work together to provide the highest quality care to our patients and clients.

This position will be general veterinary care for daily appointments, care for hospitalized patients plus some ambulatory work.  We have an Emergency Clinician who does 60% of the emergency duty.  The remaining emergency caseload is shared on a rotational schedule.  Appointments are scheduled Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm.  Emergencies are seen 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Must have a DVM or equivalent degree from an AVMA accredited veterinary school, passed the NAVLE and Texas State boards.  Also need to be eligible for USDA accreditation and to be authorized to work in the USA.

Starting salary is based upon experience level. A base salary is provided that becomes production based (21% commission) as the applicant accrues a caseload beyond the base salary.

Benefits include: State Board license fee, AVMA, TEVA, TVMA, CE stipend, Health Ins. (1/2 of single employee), option for group vision/dental, 10 days Paid Time Off, Professional Liability, Personal phone reimbursement $100.00/month, and lunch provided Mon-Friday.
