The Animal Rescue League of Iowa, Inc. (ARL) is seeking an experienced Staff Veterinarian to add to our medical staff. This position would work at both our ARL Main location that is complete with 2 surgery suites, as well as our now being build *all new* Animal Services Building in Des Moines.

This position will be doing spay/neuter surgeries, and other needed veterinary work on a variety of species (mostly dogs and cats), as well as medical treatments of the general population. This position also provides support on enforcement efforts in cases of neglect.

Here’s what we ask of you: 

Qualified candidates should have the following:

• Experience practicing in a shelter, private practice, or equivalent.
• A high level of skill, with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with community cats and TNR (preferred)
• Experience doing dentals (preferred)

The Staff Veterinarian is on call after hours every other week. Being on call will primarily be via phone to give advice to staff, with the rare need to come in after hours as we utilize an emergency referral center for serious injuries.
