Enjoy your internship in a well balanced environment at our progressive equine practice! West Wind Veterinary Hospital allows for hands on experience, growing at the rate that suits you best. Develop your independence in a great group setting. We are everything you are looking for as you bridge your transition to private practice.
Our hospital sees equine appointments Monday-Friday and provides 24-hour emergency coverage. Our intern accompanies equine veterinarians during daytime appointments and after-hours emergencies. They also assist with care of hospitalized cases. Once comfortable, our interns begin taking primary on-call responsibilities with a senior veterinarian available as backup.
Various ambulatory and hospital cases are seen daily on a diverse mix of English and Western equine disciplines, including lameness, dentistry, internal medicine, wellness, herd health, and some reproductive work.
If desired, our interns can opt to spend their time split between equine and small animal appointments for a mixed animal experience.
We offer a competitive intern salary, on site housing, use of clinic vehicles for emergency duties, paid ABVMA license and AAEP dues, generous CE allowance, 5 vacation days, clothing allowance, medical and dental plan, and an accommodating work schedule. ABOUT WWVH
West Wind is an established veterinary practice just outside of Sherwood Park, AB, Canada, providing high quality care for equine and small animal patients. The practice features a 13-stall hospital barn with 2 mare-foal stalls and 2 isolation stalls equipped with camera monitoring. There is a large treatment/outpatient exam area with stocks, indoor arena, reproduction area with stocks, radiology room and lab room. The surgical room is equipped with a padded induction/recovery stall. Equipment includes portable digital radiography units, portable ultrasound machines, video endoscopy, gastroscopy, video dental endoscopy, Powerfloats, shockwave, PRP, IRAP, and in-house IDEXX lab.
