3H Equine Hospital and Mobile Veterinary Services is seeking externs who are interested in getting hands-on experience at a busy general practice with an emphasis on sports medicine and lameness. Externship positions are available year-round to veterinary students and are strongly encouraged for anyone considering an internship. Preference is given to 3rd and 4th year students but all years are welcome.

Externs are included in every aspect of the practice. They will be expected to help with hospitalized patients and will also go out in the field to assist the doctors during their daily caseload. In the truck we will discuss cases, life in the veterinary field, and the craziness of road names in North Carolina (Swimming Chicken Lane, anyone?). At farms you will be offered an opportunity to help practice your technical skills whenever possible. For 3rd and 4th year students there are also opportunities to practice skills on clinic-owned horses (AVMA PLIT Student Coverage Required or comparable school coverage required).

We are a busy general practice with a strong sports medicine focus. We regularly see complicated lameness cases, perform in-depth  pre-purchase exams, and offer a large variety of regenerative and rehabilitative services. Several doctors in our practice offer integrative services including chiropractic, acupuncture, and herbal medicine. We also regularly see horses for vaccination, dentals, gastroscopy, upper airway endoscopy, and a large variety of emergencies. It never gets boring!

3H Equine Clinic and Mobile Veterinary Service's mission is to provide the very best care possible to the equine community.
