Large Animal Practice is a family-oriented practice located in San Luis Obispo County. We are the only Equine and Farm animal (Cows, Pigs, Small ruminants, and Camelids) practice on the Central Coast to staff multiple veterinarians. If you have never been to the Central Coast of California, it’s worth it! The Central Coast is home to mild weather that is the envy of most. The Central Coast is renowned for its surfing, hiking and biking trails. We are within an hour of multiple lakes for fishing and watersports, and several hours of mountains for winter sports enthusiasts. We are located at the southern gate of Big Sur and the clinic is literally 5 minutes from the ocean!

The practice has been in operation for over 50 years, home to two veterinarians with a total of 45 years of veterinary experience. We concentrate on customer service and a friendly practice environment. We encourage our team to expand their skill sets and the autonomy to provide new services that they can be excited to perform.

We have all the usual toys, DR radiography, each veterinarian has a portable ultrasound and power dental tools for their truck, in-house blood and fecal analysis equipment and each veterinarian has a dedicated practice vehicle (the new associate gets the newest truck!) that they can take home every night. We have a clinic with 3 office staff, stocks, a treatment area, a set of corrals for cattle work and a studio apartment attached to the clinic if the new associate desires on-site or temporary housing to aid in relocation.

We offer a competitive salary plus production, licenses paid, veterinary dues, CE allowance, Liability, health insurance, 401 K with employer match, PTO and sick time.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, friendly, patient and client focused individual that has the desire to improve the health and wellbeing of our patients and to offer new services that they feel passionate about. Internship and 1 year experience are preferred, but new graduates are welcome to apply. We are fully prepared to offer as much mentorship as you want and need. We will always pick up the phone if you need the help any time of day or night! Candidates should be prepared to work with equine, bovine, pigs, small ruminants, and camelids. Even if you don’t feel prepared to treat everything, we feel that the right person, with the desire to learn can do anything with a bit of help!

• Licensed in California
• Ability or desire to work on most farm species.
• 1 year experience or internship is desired, but new graduates are welcome.
• Equine lameness skills are a plus.
