Medical Director  

At Piscataqua Animal Hospital in?Kittery, ME, we’re more than just a team of veterinarians and staff members; we’re also a close-knit group of animal lovers and we’re passionate about what we do! 

Objective: 

The Medical Director will partner with the Practice Manager and UVC to lead and manage the hospital and ensure the highest quality of medical care, unmatched client experience, associate engagement, and maximum productivity of the hospital team.  

Functional Responsibilities: 

  • Be the example of the exceptional veterinarian that you want all of the hospital’s associates to strive for by maintaining a positive attitude while practicing the highest quality of medicine with exceptional client communication and service. 
  • Establish and implement hospital standards of care, medical protocols and medical policies. 
  • Lead, manage and hold accountable associate veterinarians and support staff in partnership with the Practice Manager, to achieve delivery of exceptional medical care and client experience. 
  • Establish regular meeting cadence with associates to ensure continual quality improvement of the hospital. 
  • Mentor and support associates to continually grow as professionals. Identify and encourage educational and career growth opportunities. Ensure that associates feel supported in an intellectually safe environment. 
  • Ensure hospital financial productivity. Monitor KPIs. Collaborate with the Practice Manger and UVC to establish business plans to ensure achievement of financial goals for growth and improved efficiency.  
  • Ensure that client concerns are addressed in a timely manner and systems implemented to prevent future concerns.  

Qualifications: 

  • DVM/VMD required, MBA or other advanced degree, a plus. 
  • Veterinary License in good standing or eligibility for licensure with the applicable state veterinary board. 
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical experience required. 
  • 1-3 years coaching associate doctors. 
  • DEA License 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
