Our full service, established urban small animal practice, located in an upscale Northwest Washington, DC neighborhood, is looking to replace our long term, retiring Medical Director.  

This position requires a strong knowledge of veterinary medicine and leadership. Our Medical Director is responsible for all aspects of patient care, including wellness and preventative protocols, surgery, dentistry, pathology, and pharmacology.  This position works in tandem with our management team (Practice Administrator, Office Manager, & Technician Manager) to oversee personnel, policies, procedures and other administrative duties.

As Medical Director, you would have a key role in the decision-making process which has a direct impact on our staff, clients and patients.  You can truly make a difference in the lives of so many individuals and pets.

Our facility is a private practice, not corporate. This allows our veterinarians the freedom to create their own path and embrace their passions. No one dictates how to handle cases.  We focus on creating an environment that supports and encourages learning and collaboration. Several of our veterinarians, technicians and managers have over 10 years of experience in our field and our clinic, and several of our support staff have worked with us equally long term. This experience helps to create an efficient and proactive relationship between team members, which transfers to our clients and patients.  We pride ourselves on being up to date on the most recent advancements in veterinary medicine, equipment, and technology.  This is fostered through consistent in and out-of-house CE opportunities. 

Our affluent clientele is made up of young professionals and established residents.  They put their pets first and are very compliant with our doctors and staff recommendations. They are respectful to our support staff and utilize the most up to date technology to communicate and share information (texting, apps, etc.).

We have recently significantly renovated and expanded our facility, including two new exam rooms, and a new pharmacy and lab.  These upgrades will provide our clinic the ability to increase appointment offerings and fulfill rising demand.

Generous, above market urban salary commensurate with experience, plus incentive plan.  Hiring bonus and annual retention bonuses.  Benefits include 22% commission, 401K plan; paid vacation, sick and safe leave up to 35 days based on tenure. Family leave is available up to 16 weeks per year.  Multiple options for medical, dental and vision plans.  Life insurance for yourself and family members.  Licenses, association dues, and liability insurance renewed yearly.  CE benefit starts at $2500, and increases based on tenure.  Monthly metro benefits, parking available within walking distance.
