Let’s rethink what academia can look like. Let’s personalize the position to fit your expertise, your goals, and your ambitions. One small animal soft tissue surgeon and one small animal orthopedic surgeon, or two general surgeons willing to work in both soft tissue and orthopedic surgery.

If you are enthusiastic about excellence in clinical teaching and surgery, this is the position for you! Want to deliver didactic lectures-great, but not required. Want to do discovery or clinical research-great, but not required. We will wholly support a residency program (bring them!).

Endowed Chair positions are available for qualified candidates. An infusion of funding to the College of Veterinary Medicine is enabling expansion, the purchase of new equipment, and a state-of-the-art, fully integrated minimally invasive surgical suite begging for use.

The small animal surgery service is supported by skilled RVTs and nurse assistants. Review of applicants will begin upon receipt of applications and will continue until the positions are filled. Applications including letter of intent with statement of professional goals, curriculum vitae, and three names of references and contact information should be submitted at https://okstate.csod.com/ats/careersite/JobDetails.aspx?id=16567&site=8 For inquiries please contact: Dr. Theresa Rizzi, Interim Department Head, Veterinary Clinical Sciences at 405.744.6769 or theresa.rizzi@okstate.edu.

Qualifications include a DVM or comparable veterinary degree, residency training in small animal surgery and certification by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS) or the European College of Veterinary Surgeons (ECVS). Candidates qualified to take the ACVS or ECVS certification examination are encouraged to apply. Eligibility for faculty licensure in Oklahoma is required.

These are full-time positions with an excellent benefits package, 4 weeks of vacation, start-up funding for research endeavors if desired, and a fully equipped office in the modern Academic Center. Funding support for professional development is provided. The ability to do up to 4 weeks of consultation work outside our referral area is also included. Professional rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience, including consideration of previous accomplishments towards future promotions.

Oklahoma State University offers many benefits to its employees, including opportunity for childcare on campus, tuition waivers for dependent children of faculty, qualification for public service student loan forgiveness, free membership to the University’s Wellness Facilities https://wellness.okstate.edu/recreation/facilities/, numerous cultural and sporting events, and mental health resources including onsite counseling to name a few.

If you are seeking a collaborative environment, Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine is the place to be!
