Veterinarians

This might be the perfect job for you!!!  First Coast No More Homeless Pets is a UNIQUE opportunity offering work life balance, training and industry leading support and a mission that reminds you why you went into the profession.

FCNMHP is a busy, high-volume, non-profit Access to Veterinary Care and HQHVSN organization with two locations on Florida's First Coast in Jacksonville.  We are growing and continue to see increased demand for our services.  We have two immediate openings for new graduates or those with experience.  We are not a shelter and we are not a private practice, but an amazing hybrid with the goal of making veterinary care accessible to all in the most practical and elevated way we can.  We provide wellness care, urgent and emergency care, dentistry, soft tissue surgery and limited orthopedics along with full service diagnostics of bloodwork, ultrasound and digital radiology.  If you are a new graduate or new to Access to Care, this is a terrific environment to launch your career as we provide focused mentorship and you will always be working with multiple DVMs of variable skill levels providing collaboration and support.

What makes FCNMHP stand right for you?

We have a high demand for services and you will be stimulated and challenged with interesting cases as you are supported by other DVMs and mentored at your pace.  During your first week you will see: blocked cats, pyometras, fractures, skin disease, heartworm, wounds ---you name it.  All of this is under guidance and support that is tailored to YOU!

You will help clients think outside the box and work together with our team to utilize the most practical and best diagnostics and treatment for their pets.  We aren’t just a Treat and Street facility or perform with the limitations of a shelter—we have affordable, full range diagnostics, in house blood work, cytology, biopsy, culture, FAST scan, radiographs—all to allow you to make the most informed decisions for your patients.  Our clinic is one of a few identified as a leader in the Access to Care field and we continue to share what is working as we collaborate with high volume safety net veterinary programs across the country, as well as learn from others.  If you have a patient that has a good prognosis and the owner has a limited budget you will NEVER have to say no to helping them, thanks to our generous charitable care funding.  We work closely with faculty at UF CVM to continually improve our partnership and best practices while we open our practice to host their interns or externs.

We recognize the unique demands of high-volume non-profit work and how that can lead to busy shifts with complex cases.  We value your boundaries and time and will support you in finding ways for you to contribute to this work and still have work-life balance (leave your shift at a reasonable time and feel good at the end of the day).  We do not have overnight shifts or on-call and are closed major holidays.  We have flexible scheduling that works with what works for you.  We have a mental health counselor we block time for twice monthly for ANY full-time employee that chooses to take advantage, along with an optional monthly roundtable by a notable psychologist to deal with big issues we face as a group.  For a non-profit, we are highly competitive with benefits, pay, and bonuses (health, 401K matching, life insurance, competitive CE, professional dues additionally, and MORE!!!)  If you have high student loans enjoy Access to Care and non-profit work/Shelter medicine, –you will be excited once you evaluate the benefits of Public Service Loan Forgiveness.  This benefit can add 15K-35K to your annual compensation a year on top of your established salary!  FCNMHP qualifies for PSLF though our 501(c)3 status and still allows you to make a competitive salary and benefits compared to many non-profits locally and nationally.  Our leadership team will even work with you one-on-one to make sure you are enrolled properly and updated yearly for qualification.

New hires have a 4-5 day a week schedule for the first 6 months.  Once you establish your first 6 months you have the option to adjust your schedule to 4 day a week and include paid time in training for HQHVSN, soft tissue surgery or dentistry.  Once comfortable in one area, you can add another, and have a rotating schedule including remote work on occasion in our Telemedicine department.  At FCNMHP each person on the management and leadership team cares about making FCNMHP as great as we can be and keeping a positive work culture that is fun.

We encourage you to come visit or do a remote/virtual tour with our CMO, to see us in action and if it is a good fit for you.
