Amherst Veterinary Hospital is looking to add a Full Time or Part Time small animal veterinarian to our progressive, multi-doctor, privately owned practice that was voted best in Portage County. New graduates are encouraged to apply with mentoring available. We are offering a signing bonus along with additional benefits, including health insurance, simple IRA with a 3% employer match, dues and CE attendance. Rotating schedule allows for a 3-day weekend one week, and half day off during the opposite week when a Saturday is worked.

We are a state-of-the-art clinic with a full in-house Idexx lab station: chemistry analyzer, procyte CBC analyzer, sedivue UA analyzer and a new digital cytology analyzer. Our cornerstone veterinary software integrates patient lab results and x-rays directly into the digital medical records. We also utilize fully digital radiology and digital dental radiology, surgical laser, therapy laser, and Oncura ultrasound. We have a large, welcoming reception area, four exam rooms, with one exam room solely dedicated to feline patients, a full surgical suite, pharmacy and kennel area.

Our hospital consists of 2 veterinarians, 3 CVT's, 5 assistants, 2 receptionists and an office manager with a doctor/staff ratio 2:1.  We pride ourselves on our long-term employee retention, with most of our staff averaging 10 years with us. Our experienced CVT's utilize their skills in radiology, dentistry, phlebotomy, anesthetic/surgical monitoring, and lab work. This enables our veterinarians to focus on patient care and client communications. Our veterinarians carry an interesting and rewarding case load. We are located within an hour of Blue Pearl-Appleton to assist with any referral. No after hour emergency gives our staff a great work-life balance.

Amherst, Wisconsin is a small but growing community with welcoming people, many nearby festivals and events makes it a wonderful place to live. Amherst has an excellent K-12 school system and UW-Stevens Point is nearby. We are close to the Ice Age and Green Circle trails, numerous county and state parks, Waupaca's chain of lakes, and Wisconsin River making year-round outdoor activities abundant. Conveniently located 20 minutes from Stevens Point, 45 minutes from Appleton, one hour from Green Bay and about 2 hours from both Milwaukee and Madison make Amherst the perfect location.
