St. Matthew’s University, School of Veterinary Medicine in the Cayman Islands invites applications for a full-time faculty position in large animal medicine and surgery. Specifically, the successful candidate will be expected to coordinate and teach a six credit hour course in Farm Animal Medicine and Surgery and a two credit hour practical course in Livestock Clinical Skills. Contributions to team teaching within the clinical curriculum is expected where appropriate. Opportunities for clinical case work are available through collaboration and consultation with the Cayman Islands Department of Agriculture. All faculty members are expected to participate in faculty committee, school governance, and hold office hours for student mentoring.
Qualifications include a DVM degree, residency training in large animal medicine, and board certification with the ACVIM and/or ABVP. Board eligible candidates will be considered. A graduate degree is preferred. Salary and academic rank will be commensurate with a candidate’s qualifications and experience. Pension, CE funding, and health benefits are provided. Vacation time occurs between semesters, providing faculty with seven weeks of vacation annually.
The primary emphasis at St. Matthew’s is education, and our faculty spends most of their time teaching and mentoring students. Located in the beautiful island of Grand Cayman,the School of Veterinary Medicine at St. Matthew's University operates year around on a trimester system, admitting a new class of students three times per year (September, January and May), and all courses are taught in each semester.
