We have a full-service adoption center and shelter, mobile clinic, dog park and two resale stores.
We're looking for an experienced and dynamic Shelter Veterinarian to lead our medical operations and ensure the highest standards of animal care at our no-kill shelter. This is a part-time role (20 hours per week).
As the Shelter Veterinarian, you'll coordinate shelter medical operations, provide top-notch care including spay/neuter services, and develop advanced shelter medicine protocols. You'll manage a team of veterinary technicians and collaborate closely with the Adoption Center & Shelter Director.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement medical protocols and provide comprehensive care to shelter animals.
- Perform physical exams, diagnostics, and surgical procedures.
- Oversee shelter drug inventory and ensure compliance with DEA requirements.
- Manage and mentor veterinary staff and contract veterinarians.
- Build relationships with local vet practices and address safety concerns.
Qualifications:
- Licensed to practice veterinary medicine in Florida.
- DEA license and malpractice insurance required.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in shelter medicine preferred.
